Creating and Managing Ads

Q: Do I Have to Register to Create Ads?
A: Yes. You must be a registered user to create ads. Registration is FREE.
Q: I created an ad, but it does not show up in search results. Why?
A: You need to run your ad. Go to My Account and click on RUN ad to the left of the ad you wish to run.
Q: What Category should I put for my job posting?
A: Select the category that you feel makes the most sense for your listing. Read each category carefully and use your best judgement. If you are not sure, you should contact us and we will offer assistance. If you don't see a category that is appropriate, let us know and we can add the category. Or you also have the option of "other".
Q: What region should I put my ad in?
A: The region you live in. By default the region will be the region you specified on your profile when you registered, but you can change this at any time.
Q: Will my ad be visible in other regions?
A: Yes. All ads are visible in any region. The system will, however, always show a person ads in their region first, then ads from outside their region.
Posting Jobs

Q: When POSTING jobs, what is the meaning of "JOB START DATE", "JOB END DATE" and "JOB CLOSING DATE".
A: When posting fashion job listings, you will find the following optional fields. These fields are NOT required. If you do not indicate specific dates, no dates will be displayed on the job listing. Feel free to leave these three fields blank if you do not find them appropriate for your specific employment listing. JOB START DATE - this optional field tells the job seeker when the job starts JOB END DATE - this optional field tells the job seeker when the job ends. For example, the "job end date" can be used if the position is a temporary position. JOB CLOSING DATE - the date after which the employer will no longer accept applications
Regions

Q: I don't see my city listed. What region should I choose?
A: Choose the city closest to you or the state you live in. Also, please contact us and we can add the city for future use.
Other

Q: Where do the job listings come from?
A: The Clothing Industry Jobs web site is a compilation of job listings that are posted generally by fashion industry employers or clothing industry employment agencies (recruiting agencies). Fashion Industry Employers - jobs are often posted directly by leading clothing stores, garment manufacturers or clothing wholesalers. Job opportunities are potentially posted by companies such as Levi, Jones Apparel Group, Phillips Van Heusen Corp., Ralph Lauren, Children's Place, Federated Department Stores etc. Fashion Industry Employment Agencies - both large and small employment agencies will post job listings on the Clothing Industry Jobs database. Employment opportunities are potentially posted by fashion recruiting agencies such as, Apparel Staffing Ltd., Executive Network Associates, The Gromwell Group, The Mayberry Group, etc. As a job seeker, it really should not matter to you whether or not the employment listing has been posted by a recruiting agency or directly by a clothing industry employer. The goal is to find an employment opportunity that matches your goals and work experience. Who cares who posted the particular job listing? As a potential employee, you are not charged by the direct employee or by the employment agency. Therefore, it truly does not matter who posted the listing...
Q: What do we think of "Employment Agencies"?
A: Some companies refer to themselves as "Employment Agencies" some as "Executive Recruiters" and others as "Staffing Agencies" etc. In all honesty, we are not sure the politically correct name for this type of employment function. Regardless of the proper name, in our opinion companies that specialize in matching employers with employees are absolutely "beneficial" to the fashion industry. An employment board such as ours is only half the battle in regard to matching an employee with an employer. If you are an employer and you really want to efficiently match one of your available positions with an appropriate employee, using a professional service is clearly a smart way to proceed. Certainly, posting employment opportunities on a jobs board is very beneficial, but we feel it should be coupled with the use of industry experts such as an executive employment agency. Technology is great, but it is no match for the human mind. Working with a "human" that understands your industry and your company, may be the best way to find appropriate candidates for your organization. As you work with an agency, you will find that they learn your likes and dislikes and can often weed out unwanted resumes from hitting your desk. We suggest you utilize our jobs board as well as contact an employment service to further assist you.
Q: How do I know if this Jobs Board is appropriate for posting my employment opportunity?
A: Well, the first question to ask yourself is "do I provide a product or service that is relevant to fashion or fabric?" If the answer is yes, you are most likely clear for posting on our jobs board. For example, you may own a warehouse and are wondering if it would be appropriate to post your job opportunities on our site. As long as your warehouse currently is in the business of warehousing clothing, fabric, or textile trimming, you are welcome to post on the Clothing Industry Jobs board. However, if you are a food warehouse, this is not the proper jobs board for you. If you are not sure if your job listing is appropriate for this board, please ask us before posting. It will be our pleasure to further discuss with you.
Q: Is the Clothing Industry Jobs web site an employment agency?
A: No. We are not an agency or recruiter. Although you will find many postings from "employment agencies / recruiting agencies", we are not directly affiliated with any of the executive search firms. Despite the fact that we are not ourselves an agency nor are we associated with a particular agency, we do in fact strongly suggest the use of a professional search firm. In our opinion, working with a professional agency is beneficial for employees as well as employers. If you have never worked with a fashion industry employment agency in the past, we suggest you visit http://www.apparelsearch.com/employment_agencies.htm to locate recruiting offices with experience in apparel and textiles.
Privacy

Q: I don't want my name, phone number or email address to appear on your site. What should I do?
A: You can have all your personal information remain private. Update your personal privacy preferences from the My Account page.
Q: If all my information is private how can a buyer contact me?
A: When your ad appears, instead of showing your contact information the following appears: "This employer has chosen to remain private. You may contact this employer via anonymous email by clicking here." The prospective employee completes an on-line form and the system sends you an email without revealing your information to the prospective employee.
Q: What is your privacy policy?
A: See Privacy Policy for details.
