Product Line Manager/Designer - Midwest (Accessories)

Key responsibilities: •Manage development of product line, moving products from concept to technical design •Provide design direction to sample room and vendors: prepare sample requests, review, critique, test, and approve submitted samples. •Develop and coordinate calendars for new products and their timely introductions •Track approval of sample room and factory prototypes, photo samples, and test samples •Manage costing development with vendors and overseas office throughout design process. •Serve as liaison between Product Development, Sales, Merchandise Management, Marketing, Operations and Finance in regards to product line management calendars. Participate in product line management strategy development. •Collaborate with Technical Design to maintain adherence to products and fabrics standards; Coordinate technical spec package. •Participate in review and analysis of sales data and forecasts for new introductions •Provide direction for research and selection of fabrics, components and trims for seasonal introductions of new colors and styles •Assist Production in sourcing alternatives •Participate in evaluation of all product line concepts along with other product development team members •Communicate with domestic and international vendors regarding all steps of product development •Research trends relevant to categories designed •Present collections designed to management , sales, retail staff or end consumers at events as needed Proof product information for catalog and marketing material copy •Work with quality control to assess testing needs for new products or new fabrications •Mentor and coach junior team members
Requirements: *Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Product Development or other related field *3+ years of industry experience (accessories category preferred) *Strong organizational, analytical and presentation skills *Proven ability to manage, coach and develop others (will manage 1) *Ability to communicate ideas accurately and technically *Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple deadlines and calendars *Knowledge of fabrics, a good eye for color, detail and functionality of product *Familiarity with design characteristics as well as production capabilities, requirements and limitations *Proactive and great team player *Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office software
