Fashion Technician
Description: THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO is seeking a candidate who will manage the operation of Fashion Design Studios, including equipment training and maintenance. Provide instructional and technical assistance to students and faculty. Maintain studio equipment and inventory including, but not limited to, industrial sewing equipment, dress forms, mannequins and garment racks. Contribute to patron progress on projects in the Fashion Design Studios. Order instructional supplies for faculty demonstration and core classes. Implement daily preventative maintenance and repair to ensure functional integrity of tools. Coordinate professional repair services when needed.
Requirements: A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE professional fashion industry experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred. Must have extensive knowledge and experience using a wide variety of industrial sewing equipment. Teaching or supervisory experience is preferred. Must have the ability to assist and demonstrate to students key methods and techniques of sewing fabrication. Must be able to implement policies and procedures. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with office software including MS Word and Excel.
