Director Quality Assurance - Apparel, Accessories & Home Textiles
Description: Lead the Quality Assurance Apparel, Accessories, and Home Textile function by providing strategic direction based on alignment with Design/Development, Merchandising, and Global Sourcing business strategies. Define appropriate QA business strategies, policies, and specific initiatives to support company sourcing and buying directions. Represent authoritative technical leadership on fabric and garment manufacturing, materials and product quality testing, apparel fittings, and first piece and finished goods quality testing. Insure effectiveness of QA processes to facilitate product execution and delivery to market in a timely and cost effective manner.
Lead, manage, and develop staff. Manage a team of 19 QA professionals in US and actively guide overseas inspection teams in execution of standards. Provide timely and authoritative issue identification and resolution. Credibly represent Quality Assurance to external vendors, sourcing agents, and factories as well as internal buying and sourcing teams. Embody the principles of customer focus and insure that product standards and execution properly support the positioning of the company Brand.
Be a passionate, visible champion for quality. Communicate and provide decision guidance to merchandising leadership regarding any major conflicts. Ensure that Quality Assurance teams in US and Asia keep up with the business demands while maintaining the quality of the company brands. Act as the championing liaison with Apparel Merchandising and international apparel vendors
Requirements: SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE • Detail knowledge of fabric and garment manufacturing methods of knits, woven and sweater classification. • Fiber identification and evaluation skills. • Extensive expertise in Quality Assurance and test methods including technical standards, laboratory execution methods, sampling plans and inferences. • Fluency in regulatory considerations of fabric content, performance standards, flammability, safety and claims substantiation. • Process engineering skills and proven continuous process improvement orientation. • Business and cultural familiarity with Asian and other international operations. Language skills a plus. • Skills in performance specification development and technical writing. • Negotiation and conflict resolution, problem solving and resolution • Project management skills. • Ability to lead, direct and develop others • Understanding and ability to do succession planning • Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Ability to make decisions to achieve desired results; ability to identify and respond to business opportunities and threats quickly • Ability to quickly analyze data/situations and draw relevant conclusions to have positive effects on business in a complex environment • Ability to work with budgets and effectively forecast business • Superior negotiation and persuasion skills • Ability to make oral and written presentations; ability and confidence to present opinions and thoughts in a clear, unbiased manner
QUALIFICATIONS • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience. Additional technical training in fabrics with mastery of technical processes in knits, woven and sweaters. • Experience: Cumulative 15 years’ experience in a combination manufacturing, sourcing, technical or sourcing environment, preferably with strong emphasis in a direct Quality Assurance and Quality Control function; minimum 10 years’ experience managing/leading others

Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 Annually
